Madison Circus Space is committed to creating and maintaining an environment in which all individuals are treated with respect and dignity. Our expectation is that all relationships among people in the space will be respectful, appropriate, and free of explicit bias, prejudice, and harassment.
Madison Circus Space prohibits discrimination or harassment on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, age, disability, marital status, citizenship, national origin, genetic information, vaccination status, or any other characteristic protected by law.
Madison Circus Space encourages reporting of all perceived incidents of discrimination or harassment involving MCS members, instructors, performers, or guests in writing to board@madisoncircusspace.com. MCS commits to promptly and thoroughly investigate reports of incidents within our purview as discreetly as possible and to prohibit retaliation against any individual who reports discrimination or harassment or who participates in an investigation of such reports. Retaliation against an individual for reporting harassment or discrimination or for participating in an investigation of a claim of harassment or discrimination is a serious violation of this policy and, like harassment or discrimination itself, will be subject to disciplinary action.
Harassment is defined as verbal, written, or physical conduct that denigrates or shows hostility or aversion toward an individual and that has the effect of creating an intimidating, hostile, or offensive environment.
If evidence of wrongdoing is found, responsive action will vary depending on the circumstances of the offense and the conclusions of the investigation. MCS will take into account factors including the nature of the event, any similar claims about the same person or process, patterns of behavior, and degree of intention. For minor offenses, MCS may support involved parties through training and counseling. But if a person shows unwillingness to change their behavior, MCS may suspend or terminate their involvement with the organization.
MCS will not be lenient in cases of assault, sexual harassment, or violence. We reserve the right to terminate the offending parties’ involvement with MCS immediately in those instances.
