Each working animal must receive MCS board approval prior to coming into MCS. Animals will be reviewed on a case by case basis. Approval can be withdrawn for problematic animals at any time.
If you are bringing an animal to MCS…
- They must be a working animal. It is not allowed to bring pets or other animals to spend time at MCS if the animals are not working.
- Leashed animals (such as dogs) must be on a leash, in a crate, or otherwise restrained in all common areas (i.e. the lobby, the mezzanine).
- You must use positive reinforcement training ONLY. No punishment or mistreatment of animals will ever be tolerated.
- You are responsible and liable for the animal, their actions, and any damage they may cause. If an animal bite occurs, it must be reported to Public Health Madison and Dane County: https://www.publichealthmdc.com/environmental-health/animals
- Your animal must be restrained (on a leash or in a crate/carrier) or under complete voice control at all times.
- You must check with everyone sharing the room with you to make sure they are OK with an animal being in the room. Some will not be comfortable with it and may not speak up, so the burden is on you to check with everyone and not on them to speak up. Additionally, please post an “Animal Training in Progress” sign at the entrance to the room where you are training, and notify the scheduling director (info@madisoncircusspace.com) to place a notification on the MCS calendar so others know when animal training times will take place.
- Animal training is only allowed in the main room or lower studio. No animal training in the upper studio. Additionally, no animal training is allowed during peak times at MCS (5pm-9pm on weekdays).
- Your animal must not approach others unless invited to do so and given permission to do so.
- Your animal must not be a distraction for others. (They should not bark or whine, etc.) If your animal is a distraction for others, you must remove them from the space immediately. Err on the side of caution – if your animal is barking or otherwise causing distractions, remove them even if no one else brings it up as a concern.
- If your animal has fur, you must sweep the area you were occupying before you leave and thoroughly clean any equipment you used (mats, etc.). Additionally, you must turn on air filters during training if the space you are using has them.
- After petting or otherwise handling an animal, wash or sanitize your hands before using communal equipment or apparatus.
