When severe weather occurs in the Madison area, conditions need to be monitored closely. If present, MCS board members and instructors will advise others of weather conditions as they progress.
TORNADO WATCH: Severe conditions are developing. Be alert and ready to end all activities.
TORNADO WARNING: Danger is imminent. Take cover in designated areas and activate the following plan:
- All areas must be checked and cleared of patrons.
- Direct all participants to move to the bathrooms and utility room as priority. If needed, the trapeze stairwell may also be utilized.
- No one may occupy the upper studio or mezzanine—all activity is stopped.
- Flashlights and action plans are located in each safety location.
- Class rosters, if applicable, should be brought with instructors to the safety location and attendance should be checked.
- All occupants of the building must remain in the designated area until an all-clear signal is given. If anyone refuses to seek shelter, they must immediately leave the premises.
- Phone usage is permitted. Weather should continue to be monitored.
- When the danger has passed, all activities may resume as before, granted there is no damage to the premises.
