“Jenny” is the result of four weeks of training and creation in the MCS Residency program. While primarily a duo trapeze pair, Sam and Killian also took this time to explore some of their other disciplines, such as hand to hand, dance, and solo trapeze. They’ve done their best to imbue the show with emotion, authenticity and an optimistic perspective on impermanence—and if you don’t care about that then at the very least there will be cool circus tricks!
The show itself will be approximately 30 minutes with no intermission, and the audience is invited to stay afterward to celebrate the end of the residency, hang out with the artists and informally share their thoughts about the performance.
This show is appropriate for all ages.
Sam and Killian are the residents at MCS this summer. Their varying backgrounds include traditional sawdust circus, l’Ecole Nationale de Cirque, and 20+ combined years of circus training and performing. They graduated from the San Diego Circus Center’s Preparatory Program as a Duo Trapeze pair and are excited to share their work with the community.
“Jenny” was made possible through the Madison Circus Space’s Residency program. This residency, the only of its kind in Wisconsin, offers circus professionals and pre-professionals self-directed training time to develop skills in a supportive, safe, community-oriented environment, and to further the creative development of performance projects. Residents have use of studio space, access to equipment, and use of the space for performances, subject to scheduling availability. Residents will also offer classes/workshops to engage community members in their art-making.
