Class Description
- Are you up for a new challenge?
- Do you thrive on community?
- Do you like to dance?
- Are you curious about performing?
If you said yes to any of these questions, read more! Francis and Stephanie collaborated to choreograph an accessible dance that includes dancing on the ground and in the air. Through this course, participants will learn an aerial and ground choreography for kids and adults. The end result will be a choreographed routine. Participants will have the opportunity to perform for Madison Circus Space’s Halloween show and also a public performance at Hilldale mall.
Adults: This class is designed for adults who have never done aerial, but who have some current fitness practice and some awareness of their body in space (eg., dancing on the ground, yoga, etc.) Participants will be taught basic aerial skills and safe practices.
Kids: You must have Stephanie’s approval to register for this class. Ages 7-15. The aerial sequences will be familiar for my continuing students, but will be more challenging and stylized.
Expect to be challenged, gain strength, and have fun!
About the Instructor
Stephanie teaches aerial silks and sling. Stephanie has been aerial dancing since 2008, beginning with Wild Rumpus Circus (who also offers amazing circus classes for kids!) and Cycropia Aerial Dance. Stephanie expanded from trapeze into silks, rings, aerial pole, rope, and sling. Beyond a love of flying, Stephanie found that circus offers a warm, supportive community that lifts up all its members. With a career in arts administration, Stephanie is also very concerned with building community relationships, so that no one with a love of death-defying feats ever has to be turned away. Stephanie has trained with Nimble Arts Teacher Training program and Born to Fly. Find out more at Swing State Aerial.
