Do you dream of whirling around your apparatus? Then this workshop is for you! We’ll cover circles of all kinds, including single- and double-leg Russian rolls, horse circles, Mill circles, back hip circles, forward hip circles, single knee circles, double knee circles, elbow circles, and back circles. Suitable for circus artists of all levels, including beginners.
Learn the physics and mechanics of each circle, how to train it safely, how to spot it, and how to work up to it. All students will have the opportunity to practice their circles on a stationary bar, a trapeze, and a lyra. Most circles are not apparatus-specific, so join us no matter what you train on, whether it’s trapeze, lyra, wheel, or something else!
Carly teaches German wheel and static trapeze. She is a three-time U.S. Open Women’s All-Around Champion in wheel gymnastics and a certified coach through the USA Wheel Gymnastics Federation. She has performed both solo and duo wheel acts at events and venues such as the Wheel Gymnastics World Championships, the Barrymore Theatre, Overture Center’s Capitol Theater, Madison’s Orpheum Theater, and Chicago’s Daley Plaza. Coming to static trapeze from a background in flying trapeze and wheel, Carly loves practicing and teaching dynamic movements like beats, circles, rolls, and drops.
Luke has performed and taught circus arts all around the world, including juggling, ball spinning, German wheel, and Cyr wheel. He is a certified wheel coach through the USA Wheel Gymnastics Federation. Luke regularly teaches German wheel and Cyr wheel at the MCS.
